Our POV

4.5
Patient quality
All care is delivered via email or chat so interactions with clinicians are standardized and transactional - no option for live consultation. In 2019, Nurx was accused of “cutting corners” by former employees based on how they stored and shipped medications. A 2022 merger with Thirty Madison likely improved clinical processes.
Approach to Health
This service puts patients in the driver’s seat. While a clinician will review your order, it’s up to you to determine what you want i.e., for birth control, you can choose from various pills, the shot, the patch, or the ring.
Diversity & Inclusion
Nurx uses branding and language inclusive of trans and non-binary patients. They include BIPOC individuals on their medical advisory board. We were unable to confirm whether clinicians participate in formal training against biases in medicine.
Pricing & Insurance
Consultation for birth control, Plan B, and at-home testing for STIs is $15. Insurance is not accepted for the consultation but can be used for the prescription or testing kit. Nurx posts transparent drug prices for customers without insurance.
Technology
The Nurx website has a lot of options and information, which can be overwhelming. Once you choose a type of care, the process is straightforward.
